M&S: How Sabotage Soundsystem began to create music?
Remy “Dub”: I had just moved back to California from Hawaii and was staying with Kaleo. We started to have acoustic jams all the time and started to work out some songs.
M&S: How happens the songwritting of Sabotage Soundsystem?
Remy “Dub”: Usually I will make the beats and Kaleo will play guitar and sing. Sometimes I give him a beat and he writes to that but more often he will have a song written or in works that I will build a beat around. No rules in Sabo songs, we just keep it completely open to new ideas and always fun.
M&S: What's the importance of Beach and Surf in Sabotage Soundystem sound?
Remy “Dub”: Well the the beach and surfing is our other passion in life besides music so that is naturally gonna influence our music. In Hawaii you automatically grow up always playing in the ocean so It will always be imbedded in our lifestyle. And the recording of the Sabotage album was done at my home studio right at the beach instead of going up to Hollywood to record.So I think that helped to give the album a real relaxed feeling. Recording in LA can bring a stressful vibe. At the beach studio we could take our time and if the vibe wasn't flowing for the recording session then we would just go for a surf and clear our minds.
M&S: Are you working on Pepper new album? What you can say to M&S about this new record?
Remy “Dub”: Pepper is working on a new album. They are taking there time to make sure that only the best songs they write are going on this next album. So far it sounds sick!!
M&S: Tell to us the importance of the friendship with Kaleo Wassman to Sabo music...
Remy “Dub”: Well aside from being close friends in general, We seem to have a great flow making music together. I know him so well that I know exactly when he is gonna sing hard or soft and helps me to know exactly what to do sound wise when I'm behind the sound board. We feed off each others enthusiasm in the studio and always keep it FUN and fresh.
M&S: It's possible one day Sabotage Soundystem opens a PEPPER show?
Remy: Not likely, but could be possible. As of now Sabotage has no plans of touring.
M&S: Are you guys making the new Sabo album? There is differences of Boto Machine Gun in the new album?
Remy “Dub”: Yes! A new album is definitely in the works. Not sure if any different. The song writing is always getting better for sure. But we still wanna keep that raw organic sound of the first album. I feel like to many albums are way over produced nowadays .I prefer the way old albums sounded before there was auto tune and all these other computer plug ins. To me at the end of the day, a good song is a good song regardless of the recording quality.

Remy "Dub": Eu tinha acabado de me mudar de volta da Califórnia para Havaí e estava com Kaleo. Começamos a fazer jams acústicas o tempo todo e começamos a trabalhar em algumas músicas.
M&S: Como acontece a composição das músicas?
Remy "Dub": Normalmente eu faço as batidas e Kaleo adiciona violão e canta em cima. Às vezes, eu lhe dou uma batida e ele escreve, mas mais frequentemente ele terá uma canção escrita ou em obras que eu vou construir uma batida. Não há regras em canções de Sabo, acabamos nos mantendo completamente abertos para novas ideias e sempre para a diversão.
M&S: Qual é a importância de praia e do surf no som de Sabotage Soundsystem?
Remy "Dub": Bem, a praia e o surf é a nossa outra paixão na vida além da música, de modo que naturalmente influencia a nossa música. No Havaí, você automaticamente crescer sempre vivendo pelo oceano por isso essa influência estará sempre embutida em nosso estilo de vida. E a gravação do álbum Sabotage foi feito em minha casa em frente a praia, em vez de ir até Hollywood para gravar. Então eu acho que ajudou a dar ao álbum uma verdadeira sensação relaxante. A gravação em Los Angeles pode trazer uma vibração estressante. No estúdio próximo a praia podíamos ter o nosso tempo quando o clima não estava fluindo na sessão de gravação, então apenas íamos surfar e limpar nossas mentes.
M&S: Você está trabalhando no novo álbum do PEPPER? O que você pode dizer a M&S sobre este novo disco?
Remy "Dub": PEPPER está trabalhando em um novo álbum. Eles estão fazendo isso há um bom tempo para se certificar de que apenas as melhores músicas que eles escreveram estarão presentes neste próximo álbum. Até agora parece Demais!
M&S: Nos conte sobre a importância da amizade com Kaleo Wassman na música de Sabo.
Remy "Dub": Bem além de ser amigos íntimos, em geral, parece que temos uma combinação grande ao fazer música juntos. Eu o conheço tão bem que eu sei exatamente quando ele vai cantar forte ou fraco e ele me ajuda a saber exatamente o que fazer com o som quando eu estou por trás da placa de som. Nós alimentamos o entusiasmo um do outro no estúdio e sempre mantendo isso estimulante e divertido.
M&S: É possível um dia Sabotage Soundystem abrir um show para o PEPPER?
Remy "Dub": Não é provável, mas poderia ser possível. A partir de agora Sabotage não tem planos de turnê.
M&S: Vocês estão preparando um novo álbum? Há alguma diferença nesse novo álbum?
Remy "Dub": Sim! Um novo álbum está definitivamente a caminho. Não tenho certeza se será diferente. A escrita da canção irá sempre melhorar, com certeza. Mas ainda quero manter esse som cru e orgânico do primeiro álbum. Eu sinto que muitos álbuns são muito produzidos. Eu prefiro produzir do modo como álbuns antigos soavam, antes da sintonia automática e todos esses plug-ins de computador. Para mim, no final do dia, uma boa música é uma boa música, independentemente da qualidade da gravação.
